2018 Season - Pre Season Guide

The 24th year of the BUMS will officially start with the 2018 BUMS NFL Fantasy Draft which will take place at BUMS Headquarters from 7pm on Sunday September 2nd preceded by a burger and hot dog banquet courtesy of Cheryl from 6pm. All 16 owners return and I hope as many of you as possible can make the draft in person. If not we will have the usual alternative ways of selecting your players. Attached is the player price spreadsheet including all of the player’s 2017 scores & how much a Franchise player will cost you if he is cut by his current owner. Remember if you cut your franchise player you’ll have to pay him his signed salary for the rest of the season/two seasons. Johnnie will work with a budget of $9m having cut kicker Cairo Santos his $1m 2017-18 franchise man and so will have a supplemental draft pick at the end of round 5. Big names who are now available include QBs Aaron Rodgers, Andy Dalton & Cam Newton, running back Todd Gurley and receivers Jarvis Landry & Michael Crabtree as they have all ended their 2 year Franchise designation and become free agents. They are released onto the open market together with 31 rookies (see the rookie report attached) and 7 new Head Coaches. The player pool is based on the depth charts listed by Ourlads.com last week. Draft Order, Franchise Players & Team Names We pick in reverse points order from last year’s final tables so Mark has the first pick in the draft and Craig has the final choice. The full draft order, budgets available & franchise players are also attached. In his annual re-naming David S unleashes the Karori Chosen Ones for 2018 while Craig has won with the Leamington Porcupines and the Leamington Hedgehogs and stays with the theme using the former Sydney Olympics mascot and Australian dwelling Echidna. Does this mean he is going to be a spiky opponent who will prick anyone who dares to try and take the Papas Fritas away from him, or will we see his team roll up in a ball & surrender. Trading DaysYou will have the usual two opportunities to make changes. Trading Day 1 will be at HQ from 7pm on Saturday October 13th before week 6’s games and Trading Day 2 will be before week 11 on November 18th. Hope you can make it to BUMS HQ for each of these days to trade and watch the college or NFL games that follow. Please put these in your diaries now. Season Kick-Off Game The first game of the season is the Atlanta @ Philadelphia and is played overnight on Thursday September 6th. We’ll be getting together on the evening of Friday 7th to watch it.
